The Giant Excavator Pit is a unique monument: instead of a keycard puzzle, it houses a fully operable mining machine. By supplying diesel fuel you can run the excavator and direct it to mine a chosen resource — stone, metal fragments, high quality metal or sulfur — producing a large, steady output that dwarfs a hand-placed quarry.
A second console can trigger a resource-laden cart haul for an extra payout. Scientists patrol the pit and a recycler is on-site for processing whatever you pull.
The Excavator is one of the best monuments for fast bulk farming, but running it is loud and highly visible across the map, so it reliably draws other players. Securing the pit before you start the machine is half the challenge.
